28/10/07 QR MOTORCYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ROUND 3
Round three of the QR Motorcycling Championship Series at Queensland Raceway on Sunday 28th October has
provided plenty of noteworthy performances across the categories.
Alex Buxton took out first place in the Superbikes category on his Kawasaki ZX10R, winning two of his three
heats. Daniel Figueiredo followed closely on his Suzuki GSXR, with the top three rounded off by Paul
Fitzpatrick who was also on Kawasaki for the day. Six points separated the three riders.
A noteworthy performance in the Superbikes category for the weekend was Kevin Curtin’s run on the MV
Agusta F4. Despite two unfinished rides and the fact that he was riding on a borrowed bike, Curtin was clearly
the head of the field during his second run.
Brendan Clarke took out first place on the absolutely stock standard Honda CBR600, with Darren Love and
Ashley Barkla topping the Supersports category respectively, with only five points separating the three riders.
A fantastic result for Gerod Bloomfield, who won his three races to lead in Superstock, followed by Colin
Wood and youngster Jake Dolan. Dolan performed impressively throughout the meeting, finishing second to
Bloomfield in two of his heats, but placed third overall due to an uncompleted third race.
The Lites and New Era categories were combined for the day, and provided an awesome show-down between
Lites rider Stephanie Redman and New Era’s Scott Rinaldis. Redman held her own against the big Ducati’s of
the New Era class, finishing the final race ahead of Ryan Whelan and Aaron Roberts respectively. Rinaldis took28/10/07
out first place in New Era, followed by Graeme Greaves and Paul Featherstone.
Street Class, the largest category of the day, was led by Murray Jensen. Jensen finished ahead of Eric
Montanaro and Jade Castle to win the category with a four point margin. The Juniors class showed promise for future motorbike meetings at Queensland Raceway, with Corey Chaffer
performing best on the day to take out first place, followed closely by Jacob Morgan and Daniel Youl. All three
riders performed well on the day, with only four points separating the three boys.
The final round of the QR Motorcycling Championships will be held at Queensland Raceway on December 16.
