Qualifying

In the first Practice session i only qualified in 12th position. I wasn't too disappointed as i was only running in a new motor that we found in Sydney it was a bit of a mess but thanks too Little Man Racing in Brisbane they were able to put the motor together for us in time for racing. My last motor did a gear box on the dreaded Friday 13th( we will never go to another training session on a Friday 13th again).
I pushed my bike that bit harder in qualifying only to produce a 1:03.802 giving me 9th out of 13 ( there is that dreaded number again 13). I was very disappointed this time as i thought i would do better; but i just felt something was wrong.

Race 1

In race 1 I had a good start but the bike didn't seem to have any punch at all. I was caught behind bike 22 a 150 rider i was trying everywhere to get a round him and on the fourth lap i found my way around the outside of him to take 8th overall for that race and 4th out of the 80cc class. I must add to that that wasn't too bad considering that i was racing on treaded tyres and the top 3 were using slicks.

Race 2

In race 2 the bike became very sluggish with no drive at all but i just kept going to at least gain some points. As the race went on my tyres were slipping all over the place and i just wanted to keep the bike uprightI finished 10th overall and 5th for my class.

Race 3

Race 3 became a dns for me. My bike was hard to start and as i lined up in the out grid no one was able to see for the smoke my bike was producing. A seal had gone and that was it for me. There was oil pouring out of the exhaust onto the ground. I couln't believe it a new engine had failed. I have to say though the motor was a bit of a mess to start with and these things happen to motors that are brand new let alone motors that are 10 years old. The boys at little man racing are working hard yet again to get the motor going again for me. I would like to thank them again.

Race 4

Prior to the start of this race i thought my evening was over but through the generosity of my nearest competitor, The Gilding family offered me their spare Moriwaki they had that night due to Lachlan not riding. I took up the offer. Dad and i franticly put our exhaust onto the bike as the one that was on it was lent to another competitor. I went out not thinking of being competitive as i didn't want to drop the bike in a slide out or anthing like that. But with me riding Lachlans bike and Lincoln right there i couldn't resist a challenge. It was one of the best races for me for the evening i over took Lincoln to take 5th overall for our 80cc class.

Race 5

This was the last race for the evening and my last chance to pick up some valuable points, let alone having some race fun with Lincoln. This was the race i had my best start. By the first cornor i was up towards the front of the field only to get caught on the outside of the pack and overtaken. I had a clear lead over Lincoln but i didn't want to slacken off. I pushed the bike and was traveling all over the back of bike 22 again i found my way round only for him to over take me again on the 2nd last lap. I finished comfortable in 5th place and producing my fastest time of 1:03.797 which was still way off the pace of the bikes using slicks.

Overveiw

With an enourmous amout of bad luck leading up to and on the evening i am still happy with finishing 5th in the 80cc class. As i have said the top three were using slicks which left the rest of the field with a disadavantage and the fact that slicks have only as of 26/4/07 now been homologated for the 80cc class.
